(Please note: The $140 per person fee covers the permitted launch and the round trip transportation down to the Hoover Dam and back to the Lodge after pickup at Willow Beach. Additional fees will apply based on the rentals you select, including the specific kayak model or canoe and the number of nights you keep them out. These fees will be invoiced separately.)

Set out on your own unforgettable journey through the stunning Black Canyon of the Colorado River. This multi-day self-guided kayaking and camping adventure gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace while immersing yourself in one of the Southwest’s most breathtaking natural settings.

Launch below the Hoover Dam and paddle downstream through calm emerald waters surrounded by towering canyon walls. Along the way, discover hidden coves, natural hot springs, historic sites, and quiet beaches perfect for camping beneath the stars.

Whether you’re seeking solitude, scenic beauty, or an adventurous escape, the Black Canyon offers endless opportunities to disconnect and explore.

We’ll provide your watercraft, safety gear, and required launch permits — you bring your camping gear, food, and sense of adventure.

Boat Rental (per night):

  • Single Kayak – Basic (Wilderness Systems Pungo): $40/night
    Pungos are sit-inside 12.5 ft kayaks with a wide opening. They are lightweight and known for stability. Each kayak has one large storage hatch, straps on top, and additional storage space under the foot area and behind the seat.
  • Tandem Kayak – Basic (Wilderness Systems Pamlico): $70/night
    The Pamlico is a 14 ft sit-inside tandem kayak with a large open cockpit. It includes one small storage hatch, cockpit space for additional gear storage, and straps on top for securing gear.
  • Canoe: $60/night
    Canoes are well known for their capacity to hold multiple people and gear. They feature two bench seats (with possible room for a third person) and a large open center area for gear storage.
  • Single Kayak – Premium (Wilderness Systems Tsunami): $60/night
    Tsunamis are 17.5 ft sit-inside touring kayaks designed for longer trips. They are easy to maneuver and equipped with a rudder system that helps in windy conditions. Each kayak includes one large rear storage hatch, one smaller front hatch, and straps on top for additional gear.
  • Tandem Kayak – Premium (Wilderness Systems Polaris): $90/night
    The Polaris is an 18.5 ft sit-inside tandem touring kayak equipped with a rudder system. These kayaks are stable in the water and maneuver well. They include four storage hatches (one large rear hatch, one smaller front hatch, and two smaller hatches in front of each cockpit) along with straps for additional gear storage.

    What to Bring

    • Tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad
    • Quick-dry clothing and warm layers
    • Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
    • Water shoes or sandals with straps
    • Dry bags for gear and clothing
    • Food, snacks, and 1–2 gallons of water per person per day or water filtration.
    • Camp stove or small cooking setup
    • Headlamp or flashlight
    • Personal first aid kit
    • Trash bags (pack out all waste)
    • Optional: camera, towel, bug spray, small cooler *We do not recommend hard case coolers unless you’ve booked a canoe.

    Return Time:

    All self-guided paddlers must return to Willow Beach by 4:00 PM on their scheduled end date. Please plan your trip accordingly to allow enough time to pack up camp, paddle downstream, and arrive on time.

    Group Options:

    For larger groups or customized itineraries, alternate take-out locations along the Colorado River may be available. Please contact us directly for more information and to discuss group logistics.

    Additional Terms:

    No child rates. Must be 12 years and older with parental permission.

    Customer MUST bring government-issued identification on the trip.

    There is a $35 change or cancellation fee for any changes or cancellations with a minimum of 48 hours notice. This is to pay for the non-refundable name-specific park permits the company must buy for its guests and guides.

    Changes or cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will incur a 100% cancellation fee. This includes no shows for the complimentary shuttle.

    The Company will refund 100% of your payment if the Company cancels for any reason.

    A $50 per person fee will be applicable if boat and equipment are not returned to Blazin’ Paddles at the Willow Beach pick-up location by the specified time.
